Experience the best of the Garden Route by enjoying the freedom of a self drive tour consisting of car rental and guest house accommodation. Visit Addo Elephant National Park or Port Elizabeth, Storms River, The Crags, Plettenberg Bay and Knysna.

On this tour you can decide to either start in Addo Elephant National Park (Option 1) with self catering accommodation and wild animals, or start your tour in Port Elizabeth (Option 2) with Guest House accommodation, sunny beaches and shopping malls.

Day 1
The tour commences with the collection of your rental car from Port Elizabeth Airport.
Option 1 - Addo Elephant National Park
From here you follow the N2 towards Addo Elephant Park. You can still be in time for a sunset game drive…Overnight in the wild African bush.

From the Airport you follow the signs towards Summerstrand, check in to your Guest House accommodation and love the holiday feel of this city with its beautiful beaches, shops and restaurants.

Day 2
Option 1
Choose to self drive or a guided game drive and see as many wild animals as possible! Remember to look carefully and behind every bush and tree – and please do not forget your camera!
Prepare for the last night in Addo and sleep well, with maybe a lion’s roar and a hyena’s chuckle lulling you to dreamland…

Enjoy a day at the beach, do some souvenier shopping or drive out to one of the game reserves close by for a day in the wild.
Enjoy your last night in Port Elizabeth and fall asleep with the sound of crashing waves leading you to dreamland…

Day 3
Option 1
By 10h00 it is time to move to your next destination-Storms River. Today there will be 3 hours of driving along the N2 Highway before reaching your destination, Storms River Village.

With only an hour and 45min of driving booked for the day, enjoy stopping off at Jeffrey’s Bay – maybe take a surf lesson? Or buy a souvenier at the Billabong factory shop. Enjoy your lunch at a restaurant overlooking the talented surfers in the waves. Leave Jeffreys Bay by mid-afternoon for your stay in Storms River Village

Day 4
Wake up to the sound of the chattering of forest birds and a feeling of tranquility. Enjoy a hearty breakfast and be ready for your adventurous day!
Go wild with Blackwater Tubing, glide over waterfalls, jump off the highest bungy bridge in the world. Experience the newest edition to Storms River Activities – a guided Segway forest tour.
Select one of the lovely restaurants across the road to dine, or have a true South African braai at your accommodation.

Day 5
Put on your hiking boots, for this day is booked for walking! Tsitsikamma National Park is not to be missed. Enjoy picturesque hikes along the rugged coastline *over a suspension bridge *up to a viewpoint *for the fit and tough, do the first day of the Otter Trail to the magnificent waterfall.
The famous fish & chips at the restaurant will refuel you while you keep an eye out for whales and dolphins. Swim, snorkel or scuba dive in the Indian ocean, enjoy a boat ride up the Storms River gorge or towards the beautiful waterfall.
Relax on your last night in the unique Storms River Village.

Day 6
Leave the Village by ±10hoo towards The Crags (30min drive) Here you will find a selection of activities from which to choose – carry a python around your neck, touch a cheetah, ride an elephant, feed amongst the birds or laugh at a naughty monkey stealing your hat!
Plettenberg Bay is next (a mere 15min drive away). Relish a not-to-miss afternoon tea at the famous Beacon Isle Hotel overlooking Formosa Bay with a view to take your breath away.
Leave this lovely town about 16hoo and drive towards Knysna on the N2 Highway.

Day 7
Spend your day in this historical and interesting town. Enjoy a ferry ride across Knysna Lagoon to Featherbed reserve where nature trails and a tractor ride awaits. The famous Knysna Heads are a must, have a bite to eat while admiring the beauty of ocean meeting land.
Two popular historic buildings in Knysna include the Belvidere and the St Georges churches built in the 1800’s.Some might fancy a tour of Mitchell’s Brewery with beer tasting and an oyster feast. Souvenier shopping at Knysna Waterfront where you’ll find interesting shops around each corner.
For the agile – visit the castles at Noetzie - a conservancy with an alluring golden beach, classic styled castles and hills of forested beauty.

Day 8
Today you bid a sad farewell to Knysna at the end of your tour. Depart for George (an hour’s drive) to return your rental car at the airport prior to your onward journey.
You follow the scenic N2 national highway, through the majestic passes, indigenous forests, crashing waves and towering hills, towards George Airport.
